Repair Details
This white 2019 Toyota Highlander arrived at the shop with several significant blemishes marring its rear left profile. The damage consisted of multiple heavy scratches on the painted bumper cover, deep gouges reaching down to the black plastic substrate, and substantial scuffing on the lower unpainted textured trim. To restore its factory appearance, a systematic multi-stage repair process was necessary.
The process began with a thorough cleaning and decontamination of the entire bumper cover and surrounding quarter panel. A highly skilled painter then color-matched the Toyota "Blizzard Pearl" (paint code 070) to ensure a seamless blend.
For the actual repair, the deeply gouged areas of the painted bumper were sanded down, filled with a specialized structural flexible bumper filler, and blocked smooth to match the original body lines. After multiple sanding stages to ensure perfection, the repair area was primed.
Simultaneously, the damaged lower black textured cladding was treated. Since deep scratches on textured plastic cannot be filled and re-textured, this entire unpainted lower piece was replaced with a new OEM Toyota component to achieve a factory finish. The new and repaired bumper components were then painted (applying the multi-stage Pearl base coat and clear coat) and baked.
After curing, the panels were reinstalled, and a final polish ensured that the newly painted section blended perfectly with the rest of the SUV. The result: the blemishes are gone, and this Highlander is restored to its pre-accident condition, ready to tackle the road once more.
